Vidya is a Sanskrit word that means “knowledge,” “clarity” or “higher learning.” The term is used to describe both intellectual knowledge obtained through study (apara vidya) and spiritual or higher
knowledge (para vidya) through means that leads to enlightenment.
Knowledge through education was emphasized as most important aspect of human by various sages,
gurus, leaders time to time.
Famous Tamil sage Tiruvallur says “ ஒருமைக்கண் தான்கற்ற கல்வி ஒருவற்கு எழுமையும் ஏமாப்பு உடைத்து Meaning knowledge one earns through education will continue to be with him throughout his
life and life thereafter“Swami Vivekananda believed education is the manifestation of perfection already in men”
Education is knowledge one attains through studies (Apara Vidya). Such education is the route out of poverty for many children. It gives them a chance to gain the knowledge and skills needed to improve their lives. Education becomes a foundation stone for self-confidence, self-reliance and being successful during one’s existence. In a country of diversified culture, tradition, economic wellbeing, and social status, helping a child to get right access to right knowledge is key in shaping the future of this great nation.
The importance of education in developing countries cannot be overstated. Education can be the catalyst needed to pull families and communities out of the cycle of poverty. Knowledge gives children the power to dream of a better future and the confidence needed to pursue a full education, which in turn will help generations to come
Education brings transformative change in children such as better healthcare, better nutrition, mutual respect for every gender and overall upliftment. The relationship between poverty and education is complex, but we know that education helps people make healthier and smarter decisions about their children, their livelihoods and the way they live.
